To help companies reduce uncertainty and quickly identify trends in the housing market Competitive Advantage conducts a quarterly survey into house builder activity. Each quarter we contact 130 national and 70 regional housebuilders and ask them to tell us how their Starts and Sales have changed compared with a year ago. We also ask them how their mix of dwelling types are changing for multi-occupancy through to detached properties. Analysis is split between National and Regional housebuilders and geographically throughout England, Scotland and Wales. Each quarter we also ask a set of questions on a specific subject. In January we ask about expectations concerning material costs, April covers usage of timber and steel frame, July is sustainability and October covers planning influences. As an additional service we can include a short question on your behalf at the end of the survey, giving you an exclusive supplementary report of the findings. Research is conducted quarterly in January, April, July and October and is available by the end of the month when it is conducted. Each quarter we provide a report with analysis of the national situation, supported by an Excel spreadsheet containing data for each of six regions; Scotland, Wales, NE, NW, E Midlands, W Midlands, SE, SW.
