The Green Deal, which is part of the Energy Bill placed before Parliament in December 2010, started as a concept of the previous Labour government (Warmer Homes, Greener homes) and will be launched in Autumn 2012. It is intended to make existing homes and small businesses more energy efficient by giving incentives which will be paid for through savings on energy bills.
This is probably the most important driver for construction in the next 10 years. The government predict that this initiative will create a workforce to fit energy efficiency measures of 100,000 people by 2017.
