Chris Ashworth

Chris has worked in construction industry sales and marketing for thirty years. His extensive experience includes construction marketing, specification sales and market research. He has been an Associate Lecturer in Marketing at Oxford Brookes University, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, a Chartered Marketer and a member of the CIMCIG organising committee. He regularly writes for industry publications.

 

Emma Townend

Emma Townend

Emma, who is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, spent 17 years working on construction sites both in the UK and overseas for main contractors. She started as a site engineer progressing through to positions as site manager to contracts manager, her most recent project being the New Tyne Crossing with Bouygues Travaux Publics. Since 2009 she has been working as a trainer and consultant in health and safety. In addition to working on projects for Competitive Advantage, she is a lecturer at Gloucester College on their HNC Civil Engineering programme.

Bill Wright

Bill Wright

Bill Wright worked for 24 years with John Lewis Partnership. Most recently as Corporate Energy and Environment Manager responsible for the group’s sustainability policy, he was also Chief Electrical Engineer for 10 years. He is immediate past Chairman of the Electrical Safety Council and was a Director of Summitskills. He is a member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers’ committee which produces the IEE Wiring Regulations and is also a part time lecturer on energy matters at London South Bank University. Rachel Ward

Rachel, who is fluent in French, worked for Saint-Gobain Glass holding various sales and marketing positions including Marketing Manager, Ireland. She has worked as an Associate with Competitive Advantage since 2005 taking on research, business development and strategy projects.

Annette Harpham

Annette Harpham

Annette is a Chartered Marketer, with ten years’ experience of marketing in the construction industry including 6 years as Marketing Manager for Lorient. She is a member of the Institute of Copywriters and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, as well as a member of the organising committee of CIMCIG (the Chartered Institute of Marketing Construction Industry Group). She also holds the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Professional Trainer’s Certificate, and undertakes training and mentoring of marketing staff.

Nicola

Nichola Martland

Starting her career with manufacturer Pirelli Cables, Nichola joined Competitive Advantage in 2002. Since then she has specialised in research - interviewing clients, architects, engineers, contractors, house builders, home-lifestyle retailers, builders merchants and specialist wholesalers.

Sara started her career in sales, initially working for a Hanson subsidiary, before moving onto engineering products and then recruitment in the construction sector. She has worked in telemarketing and research since 1999, joining Competitive Advantage as a researcher on a part-time basis in 2010.

Helen Johnstone

Helen has many years experience in marketing communications. She started working in the construction industry in 2004 when she joined The Concrete Centre as Communications Manager. Joining Competitive Advantage in 2011, Helen is responsible for managing the office, providing marketing communications and administrative support.

Alison Parkes

Alison Parkes

Alison is an award-winning public relations strategist highly experienced in working with clients at senior level to advise on reputation management and communication issues.  A member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, she has worked with clients in the construction industry for over 20 years, planning and executing campaigns to support a full range of communications and marketing programmes, including organisation and brand and product launches, company mergers and redundancies, nationwide consumer awareness and safety messaging, award schemes, research projects, event planning and employee communications.

Su Butcher

Su Butcher

Su trained in Architecture at the University of Liverpool and worked in affordable housing before becoming an academic. She then managed three successful architects practices in London and the South East; culminating in five years with Barefoot & Gilles. Her online networking began in 2004 and she has developed a reputation as the go-to person for people who want to work with architects online.
